How to serve by age

6-9 months

Prep:

Mix finely chopped, well-cooked leeks into finger foods like egg strips or meatballs, or stir into pasta or grains. Purees or thick blended soups also work.

Cut:

Cooked, finely chopped, mixed in.

9-12 months

Prep:

Thin slices or chopped pieces of leek cooked until soft for the pincer grasp, on their own or in shared meals. Or continue mixing finely chopped into other foods.

Cut:

Cooked thin slices or bite-sized pieces.

12-18 months

Prep:

Toddlers may enjoy thick pureed soups featuring leeks. Continue incorporating leeks into cooked dishes as desired.

Cut:

In thick pureed soups or cooked dishes.
