Introducing Milk to your baby
Around 6 months. Whole cow's milk as a beverage is not recommended until 12 months (displaces iron-rich foods), but yogurt and cheese are fine from 6 months.
Plain whole-milk yogurt or soft shredded cheese. Start with a spoonful. Avoid sweetened yogurt - added sugar is not recommended under 2 years.
Hives, eczema flare, vomiting, diarrhea, or (delayed) blood in stool. Two types of reaction exist: IgE-mediated (fast) and non-IgE (slow, often GI).
Fast reaction with hives/breathing issues: call emergency services. Slow GI reaction: track symptoms, discuss with pediatrician.
2-3 exposures per week once tolerated.
General informational content, not medical advice. Talk to your pediatrician before introducing allergens, especially if your baby has eczema, a known food allergy, or a family history of severe allergic reactions.
Log first exposures, watch for reactions, and get reminders to keep allergens in the rotation. Free to try.
