Sweet potato, Chicken and Rice

Sweet potato, Chicken and Rice

From 6 months · 3 foods

Ingredients

How to prepare each food

Sweet potato

Prep

Steam, roast, or boil until very soft, then offer as a smooth purée or a soft finger-length spear the baby can hold. Peel first.

Cut

Smooth purée, or a soft finger-length spear (about the width of an adult finger).

Chicken

Prep

Cook chicken fully, then purée smooth or finely shred and moisten with breast milk, formula, broth, or a vegetable purée so it isn't dry. Pairing it with a vitamin-C food can help the body use its iron. As an iron-rich first food, it's a good early option.

Cut

Smooth purée, or fine moist shreds.

Rice

Prep

Cook rice until soft and sticky and let it cool to warm. Serve it as a thick mash or mix it into a vegetable, meat, or fruit purée. Sticky or short-grain rice that clumps is easier for a baby to handle than loose dry grains.

Cut

Serve as a thick, sticky mash or blended into a purée. No cutting needed.

Putting it together

Prepare each ingredient using the age guidance above, then serve them together.
