How to serve by age

6-9 months

Prep:

Use a small amount of vanilla extract in french toast, pancakes, or baked goods, or scrape vanilla pod seeds into batter when baking for baby.

Cut:

Extract, powder, or pod seeds in baked goods.

9-12 months

Prep:

Whip vanilla into cream or full-fat coconut milk, or sprinkle a tiny bit of vanilla powder into warm cereals, rice puddings, or yogurt.

Cut:

Extract or powder, mixed in. Limit added sugar.

12-18 months

Prep:

Continue using vanilla extract, beans, or powder in baked goods. Hold off on regularly serving sweetened vanilla desserts to support oral health.

Cut:

Extract, beans, or powder in dishes.
