How to serve by age

6-9 months

Prep:

Cut soft corn tortilla in half or into finger-width strips. If dry, soften by steaming or soaking in broth. Avoid crunchy tortillas and chips.

Cut:

Halves or finger-width strips of soft corn tortilla.

9-12 months

Prep:

Serve bite-sized pieces of soft corn tortilla, plain or dipped in salsa, broth, or stew. Continue avoiding crunchy tortillas and chips at this age.

Cut:

Bite-sized pieces of soft corn tortilla.

12-18 months

Prep:

Soft corn, wheat, or grain-free tortillas can go into enchiladas, quesadillas, or tacos. Cut tacos in half. Continue avoiding crunchy or hard-shell forms.

Cut:

Soft tortillas in any soft preparation; tacos halved.
