6-9 months

Prep:

Add finely chopped fresh or crumbled dry parsley to soft scoopable foods, sauces, or large soft meatballs and patties.

Cut:

Finely chopped, mixed into soft food or sauces.

9-12 months

Prep:

Chop fresh parsley into small pieces, raw or cooked, mixed in or alone. Pieces may stick in the mouth and cause coughing; offer water alongside.

Cut:

Small pieces, raw or cooked.

12-18 months

Prep:

Continue chopping parsley into dishes, salad dressings, or sauces like chimichurri. Expect lots of spitting until molars come in around 18 months.

Cut:

Chopped or whole leaves; spitting is normal.
