Chia seeds

How to serve by age

6-9 months

Prep:

Stir pre-soaked chia seeds into porridge or yogurt, or offer chia pudding flavored with mashed fruit. Let baby self-feed.

Cut:

Always pre-soak. Never serve dry chia seeds; they can swell and pose a choking risk.

12-18 months

Prep:

Continue serving pre-soaked chia in scoopable foods. Add to thick smoothies or aguas frescas with mashed fruit and lime.

Cut:

Pre-soaked only. Sprinkles of dry seeds in batter are fine; spoonfuls of dry seeds are not.
