How to serve by age

6-9 months

Prep:

Sprinkle ground hulled sesame seeds on avocado, warm cereal, or yogurt. Mix tahini into applesauce, cereal, or yogurt. Hummus is great for hand-scooping too.

Cut:

Ground seeds, tahini, or hummus. No whole seeds.

9-12 months

Prep:

Continue with ground seeds, tahini, and hummus. Spread hummus on cucumbers, thin rice cakes, or whole-grain toast for finger food practice.

Cut:

Ground seeds, tahini, hummus on dippers.

12-18 months

Prep:

Toddlers love dipping. Introduce hummus and tahini sauces and rotate dippers like cucumber, bell peppers, or fruit. Sesame noodles are a hit too.

Cut:

Hummus, tahini sauces, sesame noodles, varied dippers.
