Prep:

Crush or blend cooked lima beans into a textured mash or smooth paste. Stir into porridge, mashed vegetables, or stewed greens. Start with small portions.

Crushed mash or smooth paste; thinly spread on toast strips works too.

9-12 months

Prep:

Offer cooked lima beans gently flattened between fingers for the developing pincer grasp. Continue mashed or pureed beans as an alternative.

Cut:

Whole soft beans flattened; or mashed.

12-18 months

Prep:

Toddlers can handle whole, well-cooked lima beans. Spear with a fork and place the utensil next to the food for self-feeding practice.

Cut:

Whole well-cooked beans; flatten or mash if preferred.
