Cilantro

Usually introduced around 6 months

How to serve by age

6-9 months

Prep:

Blend fresh cilantro into sauces drizzled over steamed vegetables, fish, or stewed chicken, or fold finely chopped cilantro into mashed vegetables, rice, or yogurt.

Cut:

Finely chopped or blended into sauces.

9-12 months

Prep:

Continue adding finely chopped cilantro to soft scoopable foods. Larger leaves can stick in baby's mouth, so chop fine and have water nearby.

Cut:

Finely chopped, mixed in soft food.

12-18 months

Prep:

Use cilantro as you normally would, including whole leaves. Larger leaves may make toddlers gag a bit, so keep an open cup of water on hand.

Cut:

Whole leaves or chopped, in any dish.
