Introducing Tree nut to your baby
Around 6 months.
Smooth nut butter thinned with water/milk to a yogurt consistency, or nut butter stirred into oatmeal. Never serve whole nuts or chunky nut butter on a spoon (choking). If peanut is tolerated, other tree nuts do not automatically follow - introduce each one individually.
Hives, swelling, vomiting, wheezing. Tree nut allergies often co-occur with peanut but are distinct.
Mild: stop and call pediatrician. Moderate or severe: call emergency services.
2-3 times per week per nut once tolerated.
General informational content, not medical advice. Talk to your pediatrician before introducing allergens, especially if your baby has eczema, a known food allergy, or a family history of severe allergic reactions.
Log first exposures, watch for reactions, and get reminders to keep allergens in the rotation. Free to try.
