A wake window is the time between sleeps. Put your baby down too early and they're not tired enough. Too late and they're overtired, which makes it harder for them to fall asleep. The sweet spot is somewhere in the ranges below.

A wake window is just the time your baby spends awake between one sleep and the next. It sounds simple, but getting it right makes a real difference. Babies who go down at the right time fall asleep faster and sleep longer.
The ranges above come from studies published in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine (2014), the Maternal & Child Health Journal (2023), and WHO developmental guidelines. They reflect how sleep pressure (driven by adenosine buildup in the brain) changes as your baby's nervous system matures.
These numbers are a starting point. Your baby will show you when they're tired: yawning, rubbing eyes, pulling ears, or that blank stare into nothing. If the signs show up before the window is "supposed" to end, put them down. The chart doesn't know your baby the way you do.
nappi watches your baby's sleep patterns and sends you a notification when it's almost nap time. No clock-watching required.
