Remove the leafy part and offer the thick, firm ribs as strips for teething. Or finely shred cooked romaine and stir it into scoopable foods.

Serve romaine finely chopped, rib or leaf, to build the pincer grasp. Toss with a little dressing or offer water so stuck pieces are easier to swallow.
