How to serve by age

6-9 months

Prep:

Grind pine nuts in a food processor until completely fine with no large pieces. Sprinkle a small amount on yogurt, rice, or squash.

Cut:

Finely ground only. Whole or large pieces are choking hazards. Never serve dry by the spoonful.

2 years and up

Prep:

After age 2, whole pine nuts may be possible if mature chewing skills are clear. Stay seated and engaged. Continue grinding otherwise.

Cut:

Whole nuts only with mature chewing. Otherwise stay with finely ground.
