Pawpaw

Usually introduced around 6 months

How to serve by age

6-9 months

Prep:

Mash a small amount of fresh, ripe pawpaw with seeds and skin removed. Let baby scoop with a spoon or hands. Start slowly to avoid stomach upset.

Cut:

Mashed, no seeds, no skin. Small portions.

9-12 months

Prep:

Continue mashed pawpaw, or offer bite-sized pieces. Ripe pawpaw is very soft, so pre-load a piece on a utensil if pieces mush when picked up.

Cut:

Mashed or bite-sized pieces, no seeds, no skin.

12-18 months

Prep:

Offer bite-sized pieces as finger food or pre-loaded on a utensil. Ripe pawpaw is very soft and may mush, so pre-load if needed.

Cut:

Bite-sized pieces, no seeds, no skin.
