How to serve by age

6-9 months

Prep:

Mix cooked, chopped okra into scoopable foods like porridge or stew. Or offer a whole large cooked pod, stem removed, for munching.

Cut:

Chopped cooked mixed in, or whole pod stem removed.

9-12 months

Prep:

Bite-sized rings or half-moons of soft cooked okra (stem removed). If slippery, roll in breadcrumbs for grip. Seeds are low choking risk.

Cut:

Cooked rings or half-moons, stem off, seeds OK.

12-18 months

Prep:

Serve cooked okra as desired: chopped, bite-sized, or longer pieces for biting practice. Stewed soft or pan-fried with more bite both work.

Cut:

Cooked any form: chopped, bite-sized, or longer.
