How to serve by age

6-9 months

Prep:

Finely chop lychee fruit (shell and seed discarded) and stir into soft scoopable foods like congee, warm cereals, or yogurt.

Cut:

Finely chopped pulp only. Never whole.

9-12 months

Prep:

Quarter the lychee fruit (shell and seed discarded) or cut into bite-sized pieces. Coat in shredded coconut or infant cereal for grip if slippery.

Cut:

Quartered or bite-sized, no shell, no seed.

12-18 months

Prep:

Quarter the lychee fruit (shell and seed discarded). If eating skills are advanced, halved pitted lychees are okay. Model exaggerated chewing.

Cut:

Quartered, or halved if chewing skills are strong.
