6-9 months

Prep:

Let baby taste a scant amount of food with finely chopped jalapeño. Wait for older for regular spicy meals. Pair with creamy food like avocado or yogurt.

9-12 months

Prep:

Stir a small amount of finely chopped jalapeño (raw or cooked) into chili, guacamole, or salsa. Discard seeds and pith for less heat. Watch baby's hands and eyes.

Cut:

Finely chopped raw or cooked, in dishes.

12-18 months

Prep:

Cut raw or cooked jalapeño into thin strips or semi-circles, or finely chop into meals. Pickled jalapeño OK now. Serve with dairy or creamy foods.
