How to serve by age

6-9 months

Prep:

Cook well, remove bones and skin. Serve in strips, or flake into grains or mashed potatoes.

Cut:

Strips about the width of two adult pinky fingers side by side.

9-12 months

Prep:

Cook well, remove all bones and skin. Offer smaller pieces as the pincer grasp develops.

Cut:

Smaller, deboned flaked pieces.

12-18 months

Prep:

Cook well and debone. Try homemade fish cakes, and keep serving plain flaked halibut to build familiarity.

Cut:

Flaked pieces or bite-sized fish cakes.
