How to serve by age

6-9 months

Prep:

Serve bulgur as porridge or mix coarse cooked grains into soft meatballs, fritters, or patties for early finger food.

Cut:

Soft porridge or strips of patty the width of two adult fingers.

9-12 months

Prep:

Serve bulgur porridge, fritters, pancakes, or meatballs cut into bite-sized pieces. Try grain salads if pincer grasp is emerging.

Cut:

Bite-sized pieces of patties or meatballs. Loose grains as pincer grasp emerges.

12-18 months

Prep:

Offer bulgur in pancakes, patties, porridge, meatballs, or as part of grain salads. Coarse bulgur thickens curries and stews.

Cut:

Cooked grains, salads, or thickened stews. Fork practice encouraged.
