How to serve by age

6-9 months

Prep:

Offer preserved anchovy on its own, mixed into sauce, or mashed into grains, vegetables, or yogurt. Bones soften with the canning process.

Cut:

Whole preserved fillet, or mash and mix into soft scoopable food.

9-12 months

Prep:

Offer a whole preserved anchovy or break into bite-sized pieces for pincer grasp practice. Continue using anchovy to flavor shared dishes.

Cut:

Whole fillet or bite-sized pieces, no need to debone preserved anchovies.

12-18 months

Prep:

Continue offering whole preserved anchovy or bite-sized pieces alongside a fork for utensil practice.

Cut:

Whole fillet or bite-sized pieces with a fork.
