6-9 months

Prep:

Serve cooked amaranth as a warm porridge. Pre-load a spoon and rest it on the bowl edge for baby to grab and self-feed.

Cut:

Soft porridge texture. Stir in mashed fruit or vegetables to bind grains and reduce mess.

9-12 months

Prep:

Continue serving amaranth porridge and offer cooked amaranth mixed into patties, fritters, or meatballs cut into bite-sized pieces.

Cut:

Bite-sized pieces of patties or fritters to support pincer grasp. Soft porridge alongside.

12-18 months

Prep:

Encourage utensils with toddler-friendly spoons. Try grain dishes, patties, porridges, or yogurt parfaits without added sweeteners.

Cut:

Cooked amaranth on its own or in soft dishes. Avoid added sugar before age 2.
