How to serve by age

6-9 months

Prep:

Firm or extra-firm tofu is easiest to grip. Pan-sear lightly to firm the outside, or serve cold in soft strips. Soy is a top-9 allergen; introduce on a low-stress day.

Cut:

Finger-length strips, or small cubes mashed on a spoon.

9-12 months

Prep:

Cubed in stir-fries, crumbled into scrambles, or blended into sauces.

Cut:

Small cubes (~1 cm).

12-18 months

Prep:

Bite-sized cubes of firm or extra-firm tofu. Silken tofu works pre-loaded on a spoon.

Cut:

Firm tofu in bite-sized cubes, or scoopable silken.
